Charter to Contribute $300K in Support of Hurricane Ian Recovery, Provide Free Access to Spectrum WiFi Out-of-Home Access Points

Charter Communications today announced a contribution of $300,000 to the Florida Disaster Fund to aid in the recovery from Hurricane Ian. Charter’s support includes a $100,000 cash contribution and $200,000 in public service announcements promoting the Florida Disaster Fund.

“Charter is committed to supporting the long-term collaboration needed for Florida to return stronger than ever from the devastation of Hurricane Ian,” said Rahman Khan, Vice President, Community Impact, for Charter. “By supporting the Florida Disaster Fund and helping ensure access to connectivity during the recovery, we are representing our more than 9,100 Florida employees in doing what we can to help.”

Out-of-Home Spectrum WiFi Access Points Open through Oct. 31

Charter also announced its nearly 65,000 Spectrum out-of-home WiFi access points across its Florida service area open and available at no cost through Oct. 31. Spectrum WiFi access points are typically found in public parks, marinas, city streets and other public areas and will help ensure Floridians will have connectivity as the recovery continues in the weeks ahead.

Here are the steps for connecting to Spectrum WiFi:

1. Enable WiFi under device settings when near an access point which is broadcasting “Spectrum Free Trial”

2. Select “Spectrum Free Trial”

3. The browser will open automatically

4. Agree to Terms & Conditions and click “Agree & Connect”

Spectrum Mobile devices and devices with the Spectrum WiFi profile installed will auto-connect without any action required.
